My cycling journey began at the age of five, and I soon became a successful junior athlete, taking part in many competitions throughout my teens. But like with many passions when you are young, I gave it up.
It was not until 2017, living in Dubai, that I began cycling again. It was as if I had never left it; my muscle memory kicked in and I reached back into those formative teenage years. I took part in a famous annual bike race and since then, I have never looked back.
Long rides with friends turned often into solo epic rides, where I saw more, experienced more, and saw more of nature in beautiful, remote locations. This of course triggered my dormant competitive spirit and I soon signed up for my first marathon mountain bike race.
